James Alwyn

A plaque that commemorates Bolton’s James Alwyn, who went to Spain to fight fascism was killed in 1937, was mounted in 2016 on the entrance to the Bolton Socialist Club.

In 2020 Rough Jersey productions launched a short film No Pasarán! – A Tribute to James Alwyn

This shows how the people of Bolton honour the memory of James, and the many others like him who traveled to Spain to take up the fight for democracy against fascism.
